At the Dene

Enjoy exploring Fallowfield Dene with its network of tracks, there’s even a ‘Doggy Walk’ for visitors to exercise their pets.

The Dene is home to an abundance of wildlife, local ‘residents’ include red squirrel, fox and badger; listen out for the tapping of the woodpecker or catch sight of a hovering kestrel.

Visitors frequently remark on the friendly atmosphere throughout the park. Both long and short term visitors, from the UK and overseas, tell us they are made to feel at home from the moment they arrive.

For those of an adventurous nature, and an urge to get familiar with the local terrain, we are always happy to suggest routes for experienced or novice cyclists.

If you like to take an occasional break from self catering, there are several first-class restaurants in Hexham and the surrounding area. Most local pubs offer tasty and appetising meals at very reasonable prices. The Boatside Inn is a welcoming and attractive country pub nestling between the river South Tyne and the wooded slopes of Warden Hill.
